Living in Gratitude can increase health, happiness, compassion and well-being and provide vitality and inner peace during challenging times. Genuine gratitude can potentially open anyone up to the gift of love and life. It can make life more fulfilling and joyous.

In this workshop we will explore the developmental steps necessary for developing insight into our key relationships and the role that forgiveness plays in developing gratitude and self worth.   Through the use of experiential exercises, didactic learning, stories, meditations and metaphors, we will demonstrate and practise how to promote self worth, so that we can instill this in our clients, partners and children and in all of our relationships. Drawing on the work of John and Myla Kabat-Zinn, Daniel Siegel and others, we will examine unspoken myths and rules in our Family of Origin, our values as partners and parents and working through the idea that our history is not our destiny.   Additionally, we will examine the intra psychic phenomenon that can cause clients (and all of us) to feel like perpetual malcontents …versus contented and fulfilled human beings.

This workshop will outline a detailed program for obtaining and maintaining gratitude, self worth, a conscious purpose, and lasting contentment. The seminal work of Angeles Arrien, Richard Schwartz (the Internal Family Systems Model), and Paul Hatherley will be explored and applied through a Mindfulness framework.

 OUR WONDERFUL TRIP TO TURKEY

 JUNE, 2012

'MINDFUL LOVING FOR EVERYONES SAKE: THE 8 PRINCIPLES OF CONSCIOUS RELATING"

Dr James Bramson, Clinical Psychologist and Lyn Benson, Counselling Psychologist invite you to join them to experience a unique approach to current theory in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey. Our exclusive Cave Hotel is situated in a listed historical building right in the heart of Cappadocia - a region classed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Historical Site. Located in the oldest part of the town of Urgup, the 27 lovingly restored original cave rooms and suites date back more than 200 years, to the time of the Ottoman Empire. The Hotel is situated in a beautiful valley away from traffic or noise with a commanding panoramic view across the gardens to the valley www.mdchotel.com

In this highly experiential workshop, we will examine both the origins and impact of our own Attachment styles which can manifest in projections, fears and thought fusion and affect all of our relationships, including relationships with our clients. We will discuss brain structure and brain chemistry and how new research demonstrates the potential for "the changing brain". Relevant differing positions and implications surrounding "The Great Attachment Debate" will be discussed including those of Susan Johnson, Dan Siegel and others. Utilizing Attachment Theory, Neuroscience and Mindfulness based principles and techniques, participants will be able to observe, practise and demonstrate skills and techniques to improve their own and their clients' relationships. Through the use of both didactic and experiential learning; small group practise; demonstrations; group process and audio visual tools, participants will understand the principles of loving and accepting "what is" in relationship; communication that blocks compassion; the benefits of acting with awareness and how to create a wider spectrum of consciousness and relationship empowerment

2010 - OUR FABULOUS TRIP TO NEW ZEALAND

THE ACT OF MINDFUL LOVE:  THE FOUNDATION OF HEARTFELT RELATIONSHIPS

The Vietnamese Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh states that "To love means to listen...the capacity of listening to and ...loving ourselves is the foundation of listening to and loving others."

To be in a loving, mindful relationship we need to understand what drives us to be reactive or non-reactive, self-righteous or compassionate, unaware or aware, critical or loving.

In this highly experiential workshop, we will examine the impact of our projections, fears, thought fusion and attachments on brain structure and brain chemistry. Research on Neuroplasticity (Begley, 2007) and Mindsight practice (Daniel Siegel, M.D. 2010) indicates that therapy has the power to change the brain. In his recently published book, "Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation" Siegel relates that Mindsight practice can change the way we understand ourselves and relationships. He described "Mindsight" as "focussed attention that allows us to see the internal working of our minds, to become aware of our own mental processes and to move beyond reactive emotional loops" (2010). In essence, this is a meditative and integrative practice that can benefit the individual and/or their partner.
